Artist of The Week 6/13/10-The SilenTreatment

This Week, The Mad HairBear Bunch take up the mantra of handling the artist of the week, and our choice is The SilenTreatment!

Hailing from the Scranton/Wilkes Barre, PA Area the band was formed in 2006 when Anthony Giamusso got together with Sam Chiarelli, and the band’s nucleus was formed.  Tony and Sam tracked down Mike Sharkey, Mark Lieback, and Stephen Martin and the rest as they say is history.

The guys while playing gigs in 2007 caught the attention of a management firm, and began recording their debut album Sinful Acts of Audio and immediately after release, the band was catapulted to the top of the indie music charts with Pretty Little Girl spending several weeks in the #1 slot along with tracks like Boogie, and Sweet Ending all showing the band’s versitillity, and attention to not only the licks, but the lyrics as well.

Tony’s been quoted as saying “The songs on Sinful Acts of Audio rock and ooze emotion. “We think ’Sinful’ is a damn sexy record,” Giamusso adds. “It really captures the true essence of the band. There are 10 songs full of love, lust and passion that everyone can relate to.”

July of 2009 brought us the release of the 4 song EP, titled “Passion In Progress” and once again showed the talents of the band, and gave them the chance to “hone the ST sound” and has been well received by fans, and radio stations around the world.

This year, the gang’s back in the studio turning out more music, and have also included a podcast of their own called The TST Fancast along with several videos posted on YouTube, as well as their music videos.

Listeners can purchase the band’s albums and individual tracks on iTunes, as well as albums on the band’s website

If  the first two albums were a prequel, the junior offering from this group of guys is going to be AMAZING!!!

Artist Pick of the Week: Prophets Rose

Prophets Rose began in the early nineties in the Merseyside mining town of St Helens. Gaz Pickett & Dave Madge met through working together in the biggest sinkhole of the town. Through a mutual love of rock music, Gaz having a lot of previous live experience and Dave for the buzz, they decided to form a band, “Prophets Rose”. The song writing partnership of Gaz and Dave soon produced ‘The Prophecy’ a three track demo recorded at The Ranch studios, Liverpool. The demo soon became a popular soundtrack to Friday Rock nights in their hometown and was regularly played on local radio. A lot of small local gigs were played which built up a popular following but the fame they sought seemed always tantalisingly out of reach. The music was to sit on the back-burner and as time is impatient and unkind, the two guys remained close friends but got on with their lives. For Gaz the flame still burned and when My Space arrived it rekindled his dream of bringing Prophet’s Rose to a new audience. Gaz and Dave are currently finishing work on two new studio albums ‘Paranor’  and ‘Beyond the Edge of Time’ Dave is also credited with the novel ‘A Comedy of Terrors’ and a compilation of poetry entitled ‘Visions of the Rainbow’ Gaz has also co-written ‘Under a dreaming moon’ with Dave which awaits publication and is currently writing a new novel. PROPHETS ROSE have announced that they are to re-form !!!!!

Artist of The Week: Caduseus

Welcome to our first Artist of The Week!

DJ SilverLady chose Caduseus as her pick this week! here’s a little on the beginnings of the band, a place to buy their music, and a YouTube video as well!

2 Years BC (before Caduseus)

Jim Griffin was quietly contemplating his future, sitting, sipping coke in the beer garden of The Buck public house in Newton, Mid Wales. With nothing but a black bin liner filled with all his worldly goods, for company. Jim was preoccupied with finding a new direction to his life.
Then his friend Gary Watson, a well-known local guitarist with The Naked Glue Sniffers, walked by and noticed that the contents of Jim’s bag were spilling out all over the floor, he stooped down to help Jim replace the items.
“Oh don’t worry about it”, blustered Jim, as he hurriedly collected up some dog-eared papers, “It’s only a bit of poetry I wrote”.
“This is not just poetry, Jim” uttered Gary, still clutching on of the pages as his eyes hurriedly scanned over the spidery scrawlings. “These are good lyrics my friend”.
It was the summer.
